More Painting Progress

I've been trying to allocate more time to painting. I took another vacation day to paint today. I like making progress towards a finished painting. I realize that I didn't post other intermediary stages. Each stage has been a step forward. Now it's starting look a lot more finished, but I still have a ways to go. What do you think?

Shifting to another painting

I got bogged down with the sky of the Soar painting, so I started a new one that I thought I could make some quick progress with. These scans are after just a couple painting sessions. I feel like I've made some good progress already. Click on the images to see them larger. What do you think?

Festival deadline brings focus

Wind, Water and Light has recently moved to Lincoln Square in Urbana and has graciously offered to host me again for this year's Boneyard Arts Festival. I need the deadline of an upcoming show in order to make the time to paint and draw. These two pieces are making progress, but still have a ways to go. The painting on the left is a close-up of Soar that should be finished before April 15. The one on the right is a colored pencil drawing. I hope to enter it in a competition by March 31. Fortunately, it is much closer to completion. The major theme of the current work is dancers. Another wider view of Soar is shown below.

It seems like the best way I have found to stay consistent in an area is to commit to an event. Without the event deadline as a goal, I tend to procrastinate. Do you have the save problem? Your feedback is welcome.

Finally Done?

I took a break from oil painting to make some final tweaks on this image. I think it's finally done. With digital images it's always tempting to tweak some more. Click on the image to see it larger. Let me know what you think. Is it complete?
